King works with the youth in the Davis County Transitional Program. The mall is the meeting place for the group, compnsed of disabled young people, ages 18 to 22. We meet here at the mall every morning, have a short lesson on a life skill, and then send them on out from here to their jobs, explains King. The mall is a good, central meeting place. We're glad we can meet here. Providing such a meeting place for the early morning patrons is in line with the goals of the mall's administration, according to Senior Marketing Manager Christine Stanger. We believe in being a good neighbor," said , Stanger. It's a community minded thing to do, and we consider it a privilege to have them here. Stanger admits there are certain advantages as well. These are good people with a strong sense of ownership in the mall, Stanger said. Sometimes we'll go out and visit with them, and if things in the mall aren't right, they'll tell us about them. They are extra eyes and cars for us. It's a benefit to have these people walking around seeing what the merchants are offering in their windows, Stanger said. By 9 a m., the crowd has thinned considerably. Coats and hats have disappeared from the benches and railings, and people have sauntered out to their cars, dispersing in all directions to take on the day's responsibilities. But they'll be back tomorrow, grateful for the opportunity. Plus &331 546-730- 9.
