The new store will include 150.000 square feet and the number of employees will more than double from about IIS now to at least 250, he said. "We met with the employees to confirm that date (of closure) and to ansucr any of their questions and to assure them that all employees at the store who want to continue employment can take jobs at other Meyer stores for the interim and arc guaranteed a position at another store," Boley added. The Bountiful City Council has given conditional site plan approval' for the move, which will mean razing the store a few weeks after us early July closure and then rebuilding it on the same site, although not in the same location. The new store will be so that the front of it faces 500 South - there will be a main corridor, Boley said. The store now faces 200 West, and there will be a main entrance built just east of the shopping center on the comer (anchored by Albertson's), with the main entrance into the Fred Meyer site on 500 South. Although there are no stores with this plan in Utah, the new Orem facility, built near University Mall on the old Signetics plant site, is the closest in design to the new plan. No contractor has yet been named. Boley said, "There will be a number of new features including dramatically increased offerings in home decor, but the most drafood dematic is a partment. Other additions include a large pet supply center with pet food and supplies blit no live animals, fina large ished and unfinished furniture section within the home decor department, an improved paint department, a floral shop, an expanded bathcosmetic boutique, a larger jewelry department and a new FM Element Shop!
