"There are currently four women ; among the group of 43 Rotarians. Layton was among the first to ratify the Rotary Internationals agreement to allow women to come in," Cuthbcrt said. Sandall had been a member of jhe club for less than a year when she was nominated as a presiden-- ; tial candidate. I was surprised ; and flattered and scared at the same timc...I did not think for a minute that I would win," she ' said. She was pitched in the election against Scott Dcru. Cuthbcrt said Sandall had demonstrated an active interest in Rotary service activities. She is obviously an astute business woman, and she's willing. It takes a person who's very willing to serve in a service organization," Cuthbcrt said. Sandall and her mother first opened their Layton business 16 years ago at the Fort Lane Shop- ; en n Pedros restaurants in and other area busiLay-to- nesses, has been a charter member of the Layton Rotary for four years. He was honored Wednesday along with fellow member Rod San-da- Tina Sandall ping Center in Layton. Flowers by Candlelight is now located at 1066 E. Gentile. In light of a recent national focus on environmental issues, Sandall said she will concentrate on involving schools, churches and community organizations in an effort to clean up the city. This will be in addition to supporting the national organizations humanitarian service projects. She will encourage business owners to be aware of their own locations and keep them enthused about maintaining a dean and appealing appearance. Also serving on the board this year with Sandall will be incoming president-elec- t Johnny Willis of Willis and Carver Assoc., certified public accountants; secretary Carol Egbert, of Gary Egbert Roofing; treasurer Steve Carver, also of Willis and Carver Assoc.; s Bill Prows, and, of Intermountain Health Care. . ; - . On March 24, several iuveniles were reportedly throwing rocks on 1000 East. Diamond Street had a Cobra radar detector stolen. A mailbox located on 1150 North was knocked off its post on March 1 1. Someone pried open the door to the gas tank on a car parked at Hillgate Way on March IS, destroying the tank door and stealing three-fourttank of gas as well as the gas cap. A sfereo was stolen from a vehicle parked at the Layton Hills Mall on March 14. The rear wing window was broken and the alarm system wires were cut. On March 14, a mobile home on Cushing Way was egged.
