They will begin taking bids from contractors in February for the project. In September, the voters defeated a bond election for $800,000 for the proposed complex that would have had a e room. Opponents of the structure held a last minute campaign to alert citizens of what they called big government and the creation of an ivory tower. The issue was voted down by 480 to 350. However, many citizens felt that the building was needed to house the fire, police, and office equipment and to give city employees more space.
