MC6WR L) 5 REALLY up TH f- . loMEWs, s-i- n candidate seeking support Over the past few months I have called and written many newspapers and radio stations in an effort to talk to your reporters about my write-i- n candidacy for the U.S. Senate against Sen. Bob Bennett. In all cases the people I contact are very kind and professional people. They express their support for candidates in our great state that are willing to run for public office, but (and this is where the hope of changing the current millionaire political process for Federal elections stops) I am not even asked the basic questions, why I am running, what makes me think I am qualified to do the job or if elected what can my voting peers expect from me as senator. It may seem like I am crying about this because I am not getting the attention I want. The reason it sounds like that, is because that is what I am doing. For the past five months I have conducted voter registrations and talked to thousands of people about my desire to serve in the Senate. I have encouraged over 850 new voters to register to have their vote count. Now, as the election is nearing the home stretch, I feel the hundreds of hours of going to meetings, listening to thousands of concerns related to the communities we live in, and hearing some pretty good solutions to problems we are facing as a state and as a nation will all disappear into a memory of a noble effort As a news media source you have the power to change the way we choose our elected officials. If covering the political process is not based solely on the advertising value, millionaire candidates are able to pay for, and your interest is providing in- -. formation for your readers, viewers or listeners to make informed decisions, I would ask you to please inform your media audience of my campaign goals and let them decide if it has any real news value. Why should you consider ( ing for David E. Workman as a write-i- n candidate for the U.S.' Vot-::- Senate? His political focus is on the family and how government; should be there to help not hinder the family as the fundamental unit of society and government. He is a common citizen and understands the needs of his- -' peers in Utah. He is not a polished politP cian (this is his first run at public office) and believes to have a government we need-ti elect one of our peers. He has accepted no financial campaign contributions. (Which means no special favors to pay back to political action groups.) He is running as an unafl- liated candidate. (So he can-reresent all of Utahs diverse needs without political party mandates.),. He believes in limiting him.,' self to only one term per political office, (these offices should lye accepted to serve the publicnoi ... as a career). He is qualified by his past work experience including, per1 sonnel and financial management, health care provider and administrator, education background and interests and the 'willingness to seek advice from- his peers for solutions to problems state and nation. (If you want; someone who thinks they already know all the answers and do not need their constituents advice, in making critical choices, Bennett.) No candidate can win a campaign by themselves. Workman Candidate U.S. Senate Gunnison Utah Thanks for prompt graffiti removal Kudos to the businesses along Heritage Park Boulevard for their prompt removal of the visual pollution, a.k.a. tagging, a.k.a. graffiti. It is once again possible to enjoy the wild flowers blooming, behind the Durbano building. Every week something new is in blossom. I am looking forward to spring when the cycle will begin again. Observing the daily progress of the building going on is like taking a crash course in construcL, tion 101. The perky, well tended fkmfflC beds at Appleby's are a treat, ,fqr the spirit Now if the city will just remove the visual garbage from the curbs it would be a service to all who use this street.
