In IM7 Nil. wa. sent to help colonize lagan where he retimed hi. furniture making and now ca.ket making and undertaking duties. Ilix first child was Chatle John Aaron (CJ.A.) Lindquist whin after reluming home from an LDS mission to Sweden, moved to Ogden where he engaged in the undertaking business in 1885. CJ.A. Lindquist operated the business in Ogden, purchasing property at 2620 Washington and built a small building on the site, lie kept a team of horse, in the rear of the building and supplemented his income by helping pull stalled wagon, mired down on Washington. All four of CJ.A.'s wins helped in the business. Carl A. Lindquist and Milton W. Lindquist both enlisted in the U.S. Army during World War I and left CJ.A. and Clyde to operate the business. Following tlie war. Carl. Clyde and their fattier ran a very successful business in Ogden. In 1934 CJ.A. Lindquist died and the Ogden business was continued umlcr the direction of Carl. CTyde and Ada Lindquist, the second w ife of CJ.A. In 1941 construction began on a new building at 3408 Washington Blvd. World War II began just as construction commenced, but materials and manpower were available to finish the building in Ihe fall of 1942. The building was dedicated by David O. McKay in December of 1942. After World War II John A. Lindquist returned home from four years of service with the Army Air Corps and new activity began. The Clearfield mortuary was purchased, a new cemetery was developed in Ogden, Lindquists Washington Heights Memorial Park, and Carl A. died prematurely. Clyde. John. Ada and an enlarged staff carried on the operations of the mortuaries. In 1960 a new mortuary was built in Kaysville. followed by one in Bountiful. In 1982 the North Ogden mortuary was completed, and in 1984 a facility at 1074 North Fairfield Road in Layton was finished. The next generation of family members continue to be involved in the funeral business. Charles W. Lindquist, son of Clyde A., entered Ihe family business following an LDS mission to Sweden, military service and graduation from the University of Utah. John E. Lindquist, son of John A., joined the company in 1969, following military service, attendance at Weber State and graduation from mortuary college in California. He is the President of the organization and manages the six Lindquist mortuary locations. Robert E., son of John A., joined the family business in 1970. He graduated from Weber State and completed military service and a mission to Sweden. Robert is President of Lindquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park and Lindquist's Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, both in Ogden. nPi Norris W. Naldcr Norris R.
