Council Wants Trophies And Gets 'Em s I promised to bring back CLEARFIELD here they trophies the last time I was here are, said Junior ROTC Lt. Col. Mark Palmer of Clearfield High. Palmer and a group of Junior ROTC cadets traveled to Greeley, Colo., last month to participate in regional drill team competition. To pay for the trip, the group petitioned the council for funds. The council approved funds and said that if the group returned with trophies, the expenditure would be worth it. The group competed against other ROTC cadets from Colorado, Oklahoma, Wyoming, and Utah. They came away with six trophies. Palmer, Capt. Toni Zocchi and Lt. Jimmie Collins brought the trophies to the council. The team walked away with top honors including the Commander Cup which is awarded to the best drill team commander. Mike Hawrelok received that honor. The other trophies were for: squad regulation, first place; squad exhibition, first place; squad exhibition, second place; flight regulation, second place; knock down drill, third place. The group also received a trophy during competition in Salt Lake City for best Kaysville Names Syracuse Man as Full-Tim- Recorder e e A KAYSVILLE city recorder has been hired by Kaysville City Administrator John Thacker' Val Dean Steel, 2325 S. Bluff Road, Syracuse, was chosen from among 15 applicants seeking the job of city recorder. Steel will begin his duties April 1. The Kaysville City Council approved the appointment, subject to reference checks. With a masters degree in public administration and a background in governmental accounting, Steel was the best candidate for the job, Thacker said. He also has office manager experience in private full-tim- business'. His duties will include being assistant to the city administrator. He is in charge of the administrative department of the city, and is the city office manager.
