Farmington Group Riding Club Members Join Contest FARMINGTON When the Davis County Fair horse show is held on Aug. 20, some of the winners will probably come from the 27 member club, the Hoofbeats. Beginning with seven members in 1975, the club, under the direction of Laurie and Donald Sides, 520 W. 650 W., now has members aged nine to 18. Meeting once a week, the youth practice horse show events and horsemanship skills. Most of the kids like horses and want-tfind out the correct ways to do things, said Mrs. Sides. Their parents are learning with them. It takes a lot of skill to train and ride a horse. 4-- H o Youth must be at every meeting and their own horse and equipment. If the horse is untrained the parents are expected to be at the meetings. Any horse theyve got could compete, said Mrs. Sides. Most horses are willing to learn and willing to work with the kids, if a horse is not show material, it can be judged on the person and not the horse. The program is geared to participation and success, said Mrs. Sides, Everyone can get a chance. There are six places and then class A, B, and C ribbons, she said. The problem presented tothe council by Henry Richards is one that began before Centerville annexed the area, when the street was a private road constructed by the adjacent property owners. At that time the property owners were told by the county that they would have to install curb and gutter and pave the street before they could build homes along it. own- Richards said all the property ers complied, except two. He said that now there are two stretches of the street that are paved onlyon one side. He also said the problem is worsened by the increased traffic on the street due sions. Richards asked that the city take action to force the other property owners to finish the street. He also asked that 25 speed limit signs be installed to remind motorists that it is a residential street, or that it be barricaded to prevent through traffic until it is finished. k City Administrator Kenner told the council he had talked with City Attorney Keith Stahle about the problem and Stahle had advised him that the city has no authority to force the remaining property owners tocomply with the agreement, since the city was not aparty to the original contract. killpack said the attorney indicated that the city can only ask the property owners to comply. mile-per-ho- Kill-pac- CONTACT: RENTMEISTER HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING Get What You Pay For When Buying realistic price for a starter horse is about $800. Club members participate every other week during the summer to get ready for the Davis County Fair, Aug. 20, 21, and 22 at the fair grounds by Lagoon. The average number of participants during each show is about 54. The closeness of the club is expressed in Mrs. Sidess words, Were a group and there for friendship. We can joke with each other, laugh together, and help each other. The property is between the annexed borders of West Bountiful and Centerville. It is 750 feet north of West and Bountiful 1000 feet morethan south of Centerville. George has asked the city of West Bountiful to annex the property and zone it to allow the park. The City Council refused. In order for the county to allow such high density housing development they must ordinance and zone for it through the planning commission. to Feature Religious Services Sunday at High School ROY The second annual interdenominational service sponsored as part of the Roy Days activities is scheduled for Sunday at 7 p.m.in the Roy high football stadium, according to.
