Call Accepted curtis caputo Report The Salt Lake Temple of the LDS Church will be closed for approximately six months during 1982 for extensive improvements in the mechanical systems and for minor . . interior refurbishing. The first presidency of the church advises that the temporary closing will begin on July 19, 1982. Leaders of LDS staakes in the Salt Lake Temple District are being notified well in advance in order that they may make orderly plans for scheduled temple activities during the period the temple is not operating. All stakes now assigned to the Salt lake Temple District will be temporarily assigned to the Jordan River Temple District during the period of renovation. To aid in their learning, they heard lectures, saw films and took part in craft classes. The program, which began at 10:30 a.m. featured dances and songs by children from different LDS Wards. Pettersson, chairman of the temple committee. The temple is nearing completion at 10200 S. 1300 W., South Jordan, Utah. The services will be under the direction of the First Presidency of the Church, Pettersson said. Other general authorities of the Church will participate as well, ' and music will be provided by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir under the direction of Jerold D. Ottley.
