They did know that they liked the unique design and the floor plan of a similar model they visited. The design is circular and domed. But to make it somewhat conventional they added a family room, laundry ahd sewing room extension to one end and a garage to the other side for balance, said Mrs. Blood. The architectural committee who approved plans for the subdivision didnt like the design but members of the committee didnt want to really make the decision. It was so unique that they said they would allow our neigh-!boto decide. Since we didnt have any neighbors, it was approved, Mrs. Blood said. When the Bloods began excavation on May 2, it was raining and they had trouble putting in the drains and gravel. When we laid the foundation, we had to wear rs . Mrs. Bloods brother works full time and they have a contractor friend and other family and friends working when they can. They expect to save between $30,000 and $40,000 on the entire project by doing much of the work themselves. Mrs. Blood spends hours tracking down subcontractors and getting bids and talking to people about the home. Because of the unique design of the roof, some of the roofing bids seem outrageous. Most of the bids have been higher than for a more conventional home, she said. The main floor will have a sunken entrance, a living room, a formal dining room, bathrooms, a family room, sewing room, the master bedroom and a small nursery. The upstairs area is not easily usable, but its good for kids bedrooms, she said. The angles in the dome took extra time framing be 2,700-square-fo- You Bet.
