Show foirf ?y ROY ff The lowest bids for work on a new Funds ffr Cify Fork 13.5 acre Roy City park were below the city engineer's estimate for the project, but the city is still about $24,000 short of the amount needed to complete the project. City Manager Richard Kirkwood said the city is relying on volunteers and donations to take up the slack. Six bids were opened Friday for landscaping and installation of a sprinkling system for the park. The lowest bid came from Bland Sprinkling at $77,936.75, well below the engineers 88,735, Kirkwood said. The six bids will now be evaluated and the city council will award the contract at the next council meeting Nov. 10, he said. Six bids were also opened last week for installation of utilities and construction of parking lots and roads. The contract was awarded to Eddie Shaw Construction Co., which had the low bid of $55,500.25. The engineers estimate on the project was $65,144, Kirkwood said. A brochure outlining these items will be available in two or three weeks, Kirkwood said. The city has budgeted $109,000 for the two projects. If both low bids are accepted they would total $133,437. That leaves the city with an additional $24,437 needed to complete the project, Kirkwood said. Kirkwood said that Roy City will stay within the amount of money budgeted for the park. The park, which is scheduled for completion next fall at 500 S. 3100 W., will be the largest in Roy. Accident Claims Life Chelsea Drive at noon on Saturday. . DAREN COLEMAN SCOTT NAVIDOMSKIS Two Receive Mission Calls Two men from Roy have received ROY mission calls and will be entering missionary training on Nov. 12. Scott J. Navidomskis of 3313 S. 4700W., son of Mr. and Mrs. M.E. Navidomskis of Mannheim, Germany, will be going to the Argentina, Buenos Aires South mission. Navidomskis will be giving his farewell address on Nov. 8 at 9 a.m. in the Roy 13th LDS Ward. There will be an open house at 5095 S. 2500 W. at noon on the same day. Navidomskis is a graduate of Roy High School and Seminary. He has been employed by the Smith Food King corporation. Daren Coleman is the son of Quinn E. and Mary Coleman of 3883 S. 2225 W. He will be going to the Netherlands Amsterdam mission. He will be speaking on Nov. 8 at 8:30 a.m. in the Roy 15th LDS Ward. Coleman is a graduate of Roy High School and Seminary. He has received an Eagle Scout Award. MISSES AND PETITE SAVINGS Woman Lost While Hunting JUNIOR SAVINGS A Centerville CENTERVILLE woman spent one night and part of the following day lost in the rrfountains east of Centerville last week. Sue Geerdes, 93 W. 800 N., had separated from her hunting party Oct. 27 and was supposed to join them again around 5 p.m. but didnt show up at the designated spot. Two ground parties composed of members of the Sheriffs Posse and sheriffs deputies as well as local police and the helicopter of Life Flight searched for the woman in Bernard Canyon. Mrs. Geerdes said she had attempted to walk into Centerville but had walked south instead of west which hindered the search parties. She was reported sore and tired but otherwise fine when members of the Bountiful Jeep Posse found her just after noon on Oct. 28. North Park Boutique Booths Available ROY The North Park School PTA is having a Christmas Boutique November 21 for their fund raising event this year and are now looking for people who would like to reserve a booth. Booth reservations are $5 and the PTA will get 10 percent of the net profits. Reservations have to be made before Nov. 7. City Sets Hearings The City Council voted CLEARFIELD Tuesday to set two public hearings on Nov. 24. The first hearing will be held at 7:30 to amend to include Title 11, Chapter 18, Section Land Use 4710, Telephone Communications, as a Conditional Use. At 7:45 Ed Higley will appear before Council to request a rezone of Melanie Acres Subdivision, Phase 3 from the present zoning of 8 to Twin Homes Zoning In other business, the council agreed to donate $300 to Clearfield High ROTC to attend a drill meet in Greeley, Colo, on Feb. 28, 1982. Spokesman for the group, Lt. Jenny Collins, told council that of the $1,000 needed for the trip, $552 had been raised so far. Last year the group took two first place trophies in the meet. 2-- C, MS.
