As you are making up your shopping list, check the newspapers for sale items. Then check your coupon file to see if you have a cents-of- f coupon for the same item. Finally, check your refund file to see if you have a refund offer for that item too. - If you are lucky enough to have a manufacturers f coupon for an item the store has on sale, you If you are lucky enough to have a have double-plarefund offer for the same product, you have a triple play. : One word of caution some stores will not let you use a manufacturers coupon for an item they have on sale. So be sure to read the newspaper advertisement carefully. But if there is no restriction, you can make a teal savings. Even if you cannot use the manufacturers coupon, arid you have a refund offer, the savings will be ample to justify your making a special trip to the store for the sale item. X cents-of- ' I know I reminded you last week that a number of coupons and refund offers expired the end of November, but many more expire at the end of the year too, so check your files carefully. It would be a shame to miss these terrific bargains just because you were in a hurry with the holiday season and did not take the time to check. ln the event that some of you have the idea that most or all coupons and refund offers are for food or household items purchased in a supermarket or grocery store, some of the best refund offers are for car products such as car wax, and similar items of different brands. Also, your local hardware store has many refund offers on flashlight batteries, shavers, even film for your camera in offers like buy one get one free. For instance, one offer says that when you buy two spot .. i Non-Alchoho- lights, you get one free. If you dont want to give both spot lights as gifts this Christmas, you will have one for a birthday gift later in the year. Smart shoppers plan their gift giving for the entire year and with a little forethought manage to have some things on hand appropriate for almost any occasion. One of my readers had a wonderful idea that helped her a great deal when she first started couponing and refunding. She got the name of a good newsletter from one of her friends and sent for an introductory copy (she wanted to be sure she was going to seriously practice couponing and refunding before she invested in a yearly subscription). Included in the newsletter as in most newsletters was a list of current refund offers. She marked the ones whose products she currently used because she would already have at least one POP seal to apply to these refund offers. Then she marked the ones that she could easily use if she just changed the brand of product she normally bought. She was surprised to note that with a little change in her buying habits she could realize between fifteen and twenty dollars in refunds within the next few weeks. She was on her way! Then she started looking closely for coupons that applied to the products on the refund offers. She had noticed that there were ads in the newsletter offering the coupons and POP seals that she needed. She decided to answer a couple of the ads and see how or if it helped. She has been subscribing to this newsletter plus two or three others ever since. I am of the opinion that serious couponers cannot get by without subscribing to at least one newsletter. They have been invaluable to me. I do not publish a newsletter nor am I affiliated with one. I am just saying that they are an invaluable aid to anyone who takes full advantage of all the combined features of a newsletter. Anything you do to keep yourself fully informed and up to date on as many refund and premium offers available will benefit. Well, Ill see you next week. Keep couponing and keep those letters coming.
