The difference, ac- -' cording to Hal Bertil-so- an air conditioning system for your home is something that requires proper consideration, not impulse buying. Taking the first or lowest bid just to get the system in and be comfortable may be a big mistake. Buying n, profes-sq- r of psychology at. Weber State College, lies in the amount of. experience the individual has had in dealing with unpleasant situations. Prior experience seems to eliminate anxiety, Bertilson said. The psychologist explained that those who use past experience as a basis for decisions usually make the less painful choice. If a person believes that an unpleasant event is inevitable, most want to get itover quickly, he said. Most people believe anxiety builds up while waiting for it. Bertilson noted that a person who chooses to deal with the situation at the moment has less anxiety than off someone who puts any decision. Do He explained, you go to the dentist today, or do you wait? If you have a sliver in your finger do you dig it out now or put it off until tomorrow? But a speedy decision should not neces sarily be an impulsive one, Bertilson added. Impulsive people tend to get the situation over quickly, he said, but their decision is made without much thought. Reflectiveness, on the other hand, in- volves thinking the situation' over and using past experience. Reflective people will test and make a rational decision, he remarked. They think about it and alternatives. ex-ami- the 1 Rentmeister Don't Accept The Lowest Air Conditioning Bid Andi Hope For The Best some, howev- , With reasonable maintenance, a central air conditioning system may have a life of many years. That portion was changed, Allen said, to require a unanimous vote of the board in bonding matters. However, Allen told the council-tha- t another portion of the agreement which requires five members on the board, including two from the county commission, was retained in the final document. The city had requested that Allen recommend that the board either be comprised of four members, one representing each entity in the district, or that Centerville be represented by two members because it is the largest city of the three. Allen also said he told the county commission that Centerville is not interested in administering the fire district. He said that prob too small cannot possibley remove enough heat and humidity from the air and may have to operate continuously just to lower the temperature a few degrees. This raises operating costs. Aerobic dancing, according to Mrs. Hamblin, who prescribes to the Jackie Sorenson philosophy of aerobic training, is a physical fitness program for complete effective conditioning of the body, by toning, trimming and shaping muscles. It stimulates the body to demand more oxy- gen over extended periods, thereby strengthening the heart, lungs and blood vessels and promoting a more efficient body with leaner muscles. Aerobic dancing has also been cited as a great calorie burner and a fun way to relax, she said. Typical performance levels include walking, jogging, and running speeds. By selecting one of these three or by combining them all, the student is able to progress according to endurance, gradually pacing herself to dance at a fast, but sensible level. The key is e to avoid without pampering oneself. Classes include a warm-u- p period which choreographs basic stretch exercises that gradually increase in pace to prepare the joints and muscles for vigorous exercise. Following the most strenuous dances, a cooldown period is required, a necessary safety factor, allowing the body to gradually taper off in its level of activity. twice-weekl- buy-ou- Councilman Robert Arbuckle increasing their levels of energy. The terms of the agreement have been debated for several months, with several members of the City Council urging that Centerville organize its own fire department and not join in the district agreement.
