Haven Burningham, executive director of the chamber, said the chamber is negotiating with one large motel firm at present. John Dawson, a member of the chambers board of directors, was at the Bountiful Redevelopment Agency meeting Nov. 4 to ask the BRIMLEY town Bountiful have told the chamber they would like to have their property considered for the motel. The play will open Thursday with performances also Friday, Saturday and Monday at 8 p.m. at View-moHigh School. How to Succeed had not been produced in this area for a number of years, says Anita Thompson, president of the theatre board and producer of the show. The last time it was presented it was done at the Lagoon Opera House, and it drew capacity crowds. It is a satire on the Organization Man, so it has a lot of appeal." And since there are no real bit parts, she adds, its a lot of fun for the cast to present. Tickets are available at the door or by calling in advance, The show had a long, critically acclaimed run on Broadway in the 1960s and has since become a popular piece for amateur and groups to produce. The plot is simple; a young man, J. Pierrepont Finch, ascends the organizational ladder by using the book from which the musical takes its name. (Unfortunately for us, the book does not really exist.) Among the characters who complicate his climb are his boss, his boss nephew, his scheming secretary, and his girlfriend who loyally hangs onto and eventually wins him. Certainly elements of a playful romp through the world of Big Business. Bryan Bowles, Bountiful High nt 292-106- 4. quasi-profession- al , Schools drama director, was selected to direct the production. Bowles has a long history of having successfully directed and starred in musicals for the Promised Valley Playhouse and for the Bountiful Community Theatre. Thompson notes that Bowles was anxious to direct How to Succeed. That helps so much, was her comment. It works much better when a director is already interested in managing a production we have in mind than when we just present him with it and he had no specific interest in the show. Some of the players were able to comment on their involvement in the show. Joel M. LaSalle, who plays the boss nephew Bud Frump, says, Its true type ' casting! LaSalle has played numerous other character roles in the Bountiful area. These have included Alfred P. Doolittle in My Fair Lady HAPPENS AT THE BON IT and Mac, one of the gangsters in Kiss Me Kate. Marla Brimley, who plays the blonde secretary Hedy LaRue, feels that, There is not-so-du- nothing more magic and exciting than performing on the stage. Im addicted. Pierrepont Finch, went to Gary Neil-soHis most memorable character was toe abstract lead of A Man for All Seasons, which is really five roles in one. Other recent area productions have included A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and Heres Love. After a brief hiatus, Neilson says that he is looking forward to being back in Bountiful for this production. Ordinance supervisor Neal Session is responsible for enforcing ordinances which regulate weeds and unsightly refuge, abandoned motor vehicles, stream cleaning and zoning, Hess said. Most of toe cleanup work can be started by contacting the property owner, he said. Some owners, however, either refuse to clean up or they do not maintain cleanliness for long, Hess said. We need to enforce the ordinances or not have them, he said. The citation will be used as a last resort and will require a court appearance and a possible fine of The county will still be able to go onto property and clean it up and put the cost of toe work on the tax bill of the owner, Session said. The officials do not want to use county equipment and manpower because it is usually more costly to the property owner, Hess said. Some of toe most common offenses are parking in front yards on areas not prepared for automobile parking, high fences on corners that block traffic view, building without a permit, unauthorized outdoor storage or waste disposal In the past toe county officials have had to take the property owners to court. Filing a complaint and taking court action is costly and Hess said. The citation will eliminate the long process. Violators will still be given a warning and a reasonable length of time for clean-up- . Hess said that this new method would help the county deal with, repeat offenders of county ordinances because they would be forced to appear in court each time.
