All will speak in their respective wards this Sunday. They are David N. Van Eerden, Scott D. Burton, Alan Timmons and Brian Charles Coy. Elder David N. Van Eerden, the son of Betty and Larry Van Eerden of 5248 S. 2375 W., Roy, has been called to serve in the Dominican Republic, Santo Domingo Mission. A dinner will be held in his honor on Thursday at 6 p.m., in the Roy 2nd Ward cultural hall. Van Eerden is a graduate of Roy High School where he was the drum major for two years and also an honor student. He attended Weber State College and has been employed at the Hayloft . restaurant. He will speak Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Roy 2nd LDS Ward located at 5127 S. 2400 W. He will enter the mission home on Nov. 19. Family and friends are invited to attend an open house following the meeting Sunday. Elder Scott D. Burton has recently been called to serve a mission for the LDS Church in the California Los Angeles Mission. It is a g mission. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Burton, 2713 E. 200 N., Laytqn. Burton is a graduate of Layton High and LDS Seminary. While at Layton High he was editor of the LHS yearbook. He has also attended Weber State College. He has served as president of his Deacons quorum and of his Teachers quorum. He has been assistant to the bishop in the Priests quorum. Burton has earned both his Duty to Spanish-speakin- God and an program. Eagle Scout rank in the Scouting . A farewell in his honor will be given on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. in the Layton 21st LDS Ward chapel. Timmons of Kaysville, has been called to serve in the California Los Angeles Spanishspeaking Mission. He will speak in sacrament meeting on Sunday at 8:30 a.m. at the Kaysville 10th Ward chapel, 1039 E. Crestwood, Kaysville. An open house will be held Saturday at the family home, 1155 E. Winston Dr., Kaysville, between the hours of 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. He will enter the MTC on Nov. 19. Alan graduated from Davis High School and Kaysville LDS Seminary. He has completed his freshman year at Brigham Young University. Elder Brian Charles Coy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dale V. Coy, has been called to serve in the Chile Vina del Mar fission. He will speak in sacrament meeting on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at the Roy 16th LDS Ward chapel, 4524 S. 2525 W., Roy. An open house will be held Saturday at the family home, 4746 S. 2325 W., Roy, between the hourse of 6:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. He will enter the MTC on Nov. 19. Coy is a graduate of Roy High School and the Roy LDS Seminary. Education has played a very important part in the history of the Bountiful Community Church. The Congregational Church, firmly committed to spreading the Congregational gospel through education, instituted a small school in Bountiful in 1881. In 1882, a rock structure was built to house the school with the hope that it would serve as school, center for Protestant worship, and community activities. It was named Bliss Hall in honor of the first executive secretary of the New West Education Commission, Rev. Charles Robinson Bliss. The first minister of the new church was Rev. David Peebles. When Peebles first arrived in Bountiful his first task was to interest men in building the rock school. The church emerged quickly from preaching services and other organized work. Members succeeded in organizing a temperance society.
