Feb. 23. at the Clearfield Library auditorium. THE LEASE Mr. McLaughlin was referring to was one delivered to mobile home owners living in the Lakeview Estates Mobile Home Park in Layton. Lakeview Estates was recently sold to a Mr. Hansen who lives in Los Angeles. The sale took place Jan. 1,1980. On Feb. 12. park residents received a letter informing them they would have to negotiate a new park contract with the new owner through his park manager. This letter stated the park management would allow dogs weighing less than ten pounds to live in the park but that no dog could be let out of the mobile home to exercise. AT NO time could a dog be turned loose, even on a leash, on park property. The letter also stated a "good-will- " de The park rules were deli- vered to the tenants the following week. Residents of Lake-vieEstates say children with wagons filled with letters traveled through the park droijping the rental contract into resident mailboxes. THE NEW rental contract consists of 42 items. Some of the objectionable clauses in- clude: The management has the right to turn off water and sewer connections: walkways and all free space belong to the park and cannot be freely used by the tenants: storage sheds affixed to the park cement slabs are the property of the park owners: sheds cannot be larger than 10x10 nor smaller than 6x6: all visitors to the park must be familiar with the terms of the contract and must abide by them: mobile home owners must repair their own sprinkling system and maintain the yard around their mobile home. Under the terms of this new contract, the only right a tenant has when he leases space in Lakeview Estates is the right to park his trailer, according to a tenant who has lived in this mobile home park for the past 4 years. THE PREVIOUS owner required tenants to sign a lease that the people believed was reasonable. The only problem tenants had in the past was a promise of a swimming pool e room that and a was never built. There was also a question about who was responsible for planting and maintaining grass and shrubbery. Residents who refuse to sign multi-purpos- the new contract can be evicted three days after the March 31 deadline. RENT FOR all park tenants is due on March 5. Before this date, park residents hope to have a park committee organized to negotiate the terms of this contract with the park owners. Cooperative Association, informed the 150 people attending this meeting that copies of the rental agreement had been forwarded to the stale attorney general, the U.S. government office for Housing and Urban Development and several Utah state legislators.
