Guest speaker was Earl Hones, head of security for Pres. Spencer W. Kimball of the LDS Church. A joint county convention was held on Sept. 6 for the Davis County DUP camps. Hosting the convention were the north Davis County and north center Davis County. Mrs. Lela Lutz is president of the north Davis County and Mrs. Vernetta Wilson is president of the north center Davis County. A large group of members attended the convention held at the Rock Chapel in Kaysville with many pioneer displays and relics shown. Syracuse By VIRGINIA BENNETT 825-039- 1 Mrs. Maude Bennett underwent surgery on Saturday. Mrs. LaFay Atkinson of Henderson, Nev., arrived on Monday to spend some time with her mother during her recovery. Mrs. Edna Parker was DAVIS COUNTYS awards amounted too: Three Chicago trip winners who were: Jennifer Knight winning a trip in style revue; Lynnette Owens winning a trip with her Book in achievement; and Anne Rowley winning with her Book in the area of home environment. We had one Denver trip winner, Kim Davis, for a foods demonstration. OTHER WINNERS were: 4-- H 4-- Jerily Huffaker, receiving a plaque for a foods demonstration. Lynnette Owens receiving a plaque for top talent, and Robert Morrill and Alene Dalton received trophies in shooting sports. Robert took second highest individual score and Alene received third highest individual score. Also, Heidi Jensen and Stephanie Davis received the top poultry award in meal preparation. Davis County had two teams enter in the shooting sports event. The team of Shane Monroe, Robert Morrill, Ron Cole, and Doug Evans took first place team in the state and the team of Alene Dalton, Wendy Martin, Bret Moscon, and Tyler Perkins took second place in the state. They all received blue ribbons and pins. MANY OF the rest of our totgroup achieved high with a al of 25 blue ribbons, three plaques, two trophies, eight pins, cookbooks and many more ribbons and certificates.
