MARK HAS out a two-ye- just finished stint in the junior college ranks playing for Dave Nelson at Utah Technical College in Provo. In high school Mark was used both as an infielder and a pitcher but while down at UTC he was turned into a relief pitcher, although he did get to play a little second base in his first year. THAT FIRST year he had a good season with his ERA listed for the season at 1.80. Mark noted that in the first .season he. appeared in more games than he did his final year. I appeared in about half the games, which I liked, but I would have liked to have thrown more innings than I did. Going to ITC was an easy decision for this young man. He liked the program and it had a pitching coach for a head man. Its hard for one coach to handle the entire operation, but Dave did a super job. He helped me out in my pitching, especially my delivery with a man on first. I was slow and they would steal off me, but now thanks to him I get rid of the ball quicker. HE WAS actually, still a lit- tle surprised about college life at UTC but ended up impressed with the new campus and the facilities at the school. WHAT SOURCE? ( -- In comparing high school pitching to junior college, Mark indicated the good hitters as the main difference. In high school a club may have three good hitters but in college you face nine good . AS FAR AS pitches go, he has the works, but mainly stays with the fastball, curve and slider. The secret, You have to pitch ahead of the hitters, never get behind them in the count, and above all dont walk anyone. In high school you could walk a guy and then strike out the next two, dont count on strikeouts in college. purchased voIuTltarUy by conservationists, philatelists and private collectors, is now Your First Call , All Glass Needs Specializing In Insurance Claims Auto Glass, Windows, Mirrors, I Store Fronts, Table Tops, etc. Storm Windows on the market.
