This year the event attracted some 1300 runners in all. Mike Beazer, 17 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Beazer suffered serious injuries in a motorcycle accident that occured on the Salt Flats west of Syracuse. He was treated at the Davis North Medical Center in Lay-to- n for a concussion, cuts and bruises. Mr. and Mrs. Jim McCowen and their two children, Jamie and Shane, spent a few days this past week visiting with Mr. and Mrs. J.J. Yarbrough at their home in Las Vegas, Nev. I was given one and have no idea how to use it. E. Stewart, San Bruno, Calif. Once you learn the uses for a curved ruler, you wont be able to do without it. Need to relocate the armhole curve of your pattern? Use your curved ruler for the perfect shape. Need to reshape a neckline? Use your curved ruler. Want to add curved darts? The curved ruler does it again. More shaping at the waistline? Make a nice curve with your curved ruler. THESE rulers have all the curves youll ever need. Simply adjust the position of the ruler until you have the right curve in the right place. It is a dandy to have. Dear Mrs. Kinser: I have put on some weight, mostly in the tummy. Now my slack inseam draws up shorter than the outer seam. I would like to know how to alter my pattern to take care of this. Eva Hawkins, Mt. Vernon, 111. ITS EASY with your curved ruler. Eva! Extend the center front seam of the pattern up above the waistline (you will need to experiment a bit to determine just how much extension to make). Redraw the waistline seam starting at the top of the extension and tapering back to the original seamline as you work toward the side seam. Except on patterns that have an elastic casing, this line will be curved, so ... use your curved ruler! You may need to extend and lower the crotch curve, also, especially if the inseams of your slacks seem to pull up toward crotch.
