Show OLD STATE HOUSE TO BE DEDICATED STATE MUSEUM the daughters of the utah pioneers in carrying out their purpose of preserving and maintaining historic buildings and relics of pioneer days have turned their attention to the old state house at fillmore this old stone building was erected in 1854 and housed two sessions of the territorial rit orial legislature later the capt capitol was permanently established at salt lake and the building was takena taken over by fillmore city and used aorl various sesby the people of that community I 1 it was given little caro care and acl became more run down from year to year until 1921 1922 when the Amie american ricart legion got an appropriation from tile tho state of utah and spent the money ind nd much tree free labor in repairing the building the state legislature in 1927 made an appropriation of flo 10 1 00 which was used in re ln the building to its original recondition the building and grounds were taken over I 1 by th eState ot of utah and are now state the daughters of have been given charge of the building for the purpose of making a place to collect preserve and exhibit pioneer relies relics the millard county chapters have secured an appropriation 0 of from the county commissioners of millard and are now busy preparing the building and exhibit |
