The Tartars looked every bit as rio;l as tiiey were rated, but the letirmiiied Broncos did themselves proud in holding the top Jaycee team of the nation to a '26 to 13 .score. The visitors opened the game with a drive that netted them the first score of the game when John Finney twisted his way over the goal line. The Broncos son got back Into the contest when Ronnie Wahh, who played sensationally all day, snatched a Compton pa.ss out of the air and raced forty yards for a touchdown. In th: second quarter the great Compton passer, Bev Wallace con-1 nected for a series of shots to put the ball on the Bronco t n, Danny Brown receiving most of his passes. Tlrn they reversed the procedure ind Brown passed to Wallace for a score, and the half end d with the visitors leading 12 to 6. Trailing 26 to 6. the Broncos opened op-ened up with a passing attack tha' lit rally ran the visitors ragged and had them backed up against their own goal line for the remainder of the game. Early in the final period Lunt passed to Walsh in the end zone for a touchdown, and shortly afterward tie hit Ray Sabin, who made a beautiful catch and raced to the three yard line before he was stopped. Two plays later Lunt wnt back to pass again, but seeing a big opening raced over the goal line for another touchdown. |
