Roundy enlisted in the Navy early this week but was counted in the quota. Udell Haslam and Craig Crabb, both of Cedar City, were ordered to report for induction in case any of the above list did not qualify, but were not needed to fill the quota. It was expected that these two men would be called as a part of a special July quota of four men but they may not be needed for that call either, since other men who were previously deferred for various reasons may now qualify. One of these is Ellis Lambeth, who was in the June 8th. call but was deferred for 30 days. It was expected expec-ted that Lambeth would go on the June 25th. quota, but since his thirty days were not up until July 8th., he will not be required to report re-port until the July quota group leave on July 17lh. Duard McCon-nell McCon-nell who has been deferred because of a minor physical disability, may also be called on July 17th. Clifford Darrah, now of Ploche, Nevada, may also be callled In July. Darrah, a former employee of the Iron County Record, who ls now working on the Pioche Record, and who Ls a Canadian Citizen, was deferred because of his alien status. sta-tus. However, aliens of countries allied with the United States are now being called, according to E. B. Dalley, Selective Service Board secretary. Dee Cowan is listed hi the fourth man on the list, but since he was accepted in the Army Air Corps Enlisted Reserve last week, his status has not been cler-ifled cler-ifled by the Board. |
