Show ANNA PENDLETON I VICTIM OF "FLU" Young Woman of Cedar Succumbs to Disease While Attending School in California. This (Friday) afternoon the funeral services over the remains of Miss An-' na Pendleton, who sucumed to the deadly influenza pneumonia at Los Angeles, California, last Tuesday, was held in the open air at the Pendleton j residence. Miss Pendleton, with some ' two or three other young women of , this place was attending school at the Leland-Stanford University when she was stricken with the malady. The speakers at the funeral were Supt. L. John Nuttall, under whose direction di-rection deceased has been a teacher in the public schools of the county, and Prof. H. Claud Lewis, also an instructor. instruc-tor. Both made feeling and appreciative appre-ciative remarks. Musical selections were rendered by a mixed quartet of loCftl singers. A public indoor funeral was prevented pre-vented by the closing order of the local board of health, on account of the cases of influenza existing here. The attendance was comparatively re-, stricted by reason of the same condition. condi-tion. The body arrived only a few , hours in advance of the hour set for i the funeral. Miss Pendleton was a highly re- 1 spected and estimable young lady, a , competent and valuable instructor, and her untimely end is sincerely mourned by the community. |
