Show Devoted Ghtiarsh, Cnvie Paw PBaira olden Wedding Fee Myron S. and Mary Davenport Jones of Enoch will celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversary Anniver-sary Saturday, Oct. 8, at 7:30 p. m. in the Enoch Ward recreation recrea-tion hall with a program and dancing. Friends and relatives are invited to join with them on this occasion. Mr. and Mrs. Jones were married mar-ried in the Salt Lake Temple on October 4, 1905, and have lived in Enoch since their marriage. Mr. Jones was born in Enoch on Mar. 4, 1884, a son of the late John Lee and Rachel Simkins Jones. Mrs. Jones was born in Parowan on Mar. 2, 1886, a daughter of John and Helen Miller Mil-ler Davenport. Both have been very active in IDS Church affairs throughout their lives, and at the present time are serving on a mission as officiators in the St. George L D S Temple. Organized Choir Mr. Jones is a high priest in the Enoch Ward. Under his leadership leader-ship the ward developed a choir that was called by Stake President Presi-dent Wilford Day to the Parowan Stake Conference to furnish singing sing-ing at the completion of a new ward chapel and the leaving of the old, pioneer constructed, rock church In attendance at the conference con-ference was President Joseph F. Smith, who from the puJpit praised the choir and gave it a blessing, maintaining that "some of them would sing in the courts of heaven." A talented musician Mr. Jones has given freely of his time in providing music for all weddings and missionary parties in the ward and for a great many other organizations of the ward, stake and in adjoining counties, and enjoying every minute of such service. Active in Church Mrs. Jones has served in the Primary, Y W M I A and for nine years served as president of the Enoch Ward Relief Society. The couple are the parents of nine children, eight of whom are living: Ivor D. Jones, Mrs. Evan (Verda) Matheson, Mrs. Elwin (Marva) Armstrong, all of Enoch; Mrs. Edgar (Norine) Chamberlain, Mrs. Alien (Bessie) Heaton, all of Cedar City; LaVon Jones, Denver, Colo.; M. Glen Jones, Parowan, and Denton D. Jones, Salt Lake City. They have 21 grandchildren and five grea-grandchildren. grea-grandchildren. Three of their sons have served missions for the church and one' a home mission for two years. All of their children have been married in the temple and also four of their grandchildren have been married in the temple. One of their sons is a bishop and one a bishop's counsejor. All of the other children are working in the church. A grandson, Gaylen J. Matheson, Mathe-son, has filled a mission and an-nother an-nother grandson, Loris C. Jones, is leaving on a mission on Oct. 4. |
