Show Clair Stevens Ward 75, Dies, Service on Saturday Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 26 at 2 p. m. for Clair Stevens Ward, 75, lifelong resident of Parowan, who died Oct. 23 in a Salt Lake rest home. Services were held in the Third Ward chapel cha-pel with Bishop Veil E. Tay-. Tay-. lor conducting. The deceased had been in the rest home for several i weeks after being treated in a v Salt Lake hospital for a brok- j j en hip sustained in a fall at i , his home here. 1 He was born here June 3, , 1893, to Edward Parker and s i Mary Stevens Ward. He was V married to Rilda Ruby, Jan. 8, 1915 in the St. George LDS Temple and she died April 24, 1934. After working with livestock live-stock for a number of years, ho became the custodian of the Iron County Courthouse here, a position he held for 23 year. Ho also served as court bailif for many years. Survivors are one son, Kent R. Ward, Salt Lake City; three daughters, Mrs. Floyd (Ruby) Whicker, Lafayette, Calif.; Miss Ivy Ward, Parowan, and Mrs. Paul (Arna) Cason, Cedar City; 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Also Al-so brothers and sister, Joseph E. and Chester S. Ward and Mrs. Pearl W. Russell, all of Parowan, all of whom were here on the week end. Speakers at the services were Clair Hulet and Howard Joseph with closing remarks by Bishop Taylor in which he included sentiments written to a friend by Jim Mortensen, former Parowan resident, now living in St. George. The prayer at the home was offered by Eddie Erick-son, Erick-son, the invocation was by W. Clair Rowley, the benediction was by Wayne Veater and the grave in the Parowan City cemetery was dedicated by Kent R. Ward. Musical numbers included two songs, "Oh, My Father", I and "Lead Me Gently Home", ; by a double mixed quartet, consisting of Karl and Alice Mitchell, Rulan and Berta Dal-ton, Dal-ton, Ola Robinson, Frankie Lou Bentley, Kent Marsden, . and Claude Orton, and a vocal vo-cal solo, "That Silver Haired Daddy of Mine" by Rex C. Ward. Mary Lyman was ac-;, ac-;, companist for all three num-, num-, bers and Ola Robinson was I at the organ for preludeand postlude music. V. Pallbearers were grandsons ' and grandsons-in-law: Ward Whicker, Stephen Ward, Richard Rich-ard Beckman, Keith Workman, Work-man, Jr. Willard Wood, and Eddie Erickson, Flowers were in charge of Third Ward Relief Re-lief Society and carried by granddaughters. |
