Bird in a double ring ceremony solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple August 21. Theron Ashcroift, a member of the temple presidency and also the bridegroom's mission president pres-ident when he was in Ireland, officiated at the marriage rites. . ''p"' vtA -iirftnr The couple was honored at a garden reception that same evening at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lerin Porter, 211 Ridge Road. They were further feted at an Open House at the home of the bridegroom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh V. Bird in Salina. For her wedding and reception re-ception the bride wore a floor length gown of white silk organza over satin featuring an empire waist with bodice of Chantilly lace aglow with dainty seed pearls. The full length sleeves and the long mantilla which flowed into a train were 'trimmed with bands of scalloped matching lace. The finger, tip bouffant veil -of bridal illusion drifted from an original crown of pearls designed and made by the bride. She carried a basket of white and yellow daisies, dwarf dahlias . and baby breath with yellow satin ribbon streamers. ; Maid of .honor was Miss Cherie Porter, sister of the bride; and the bridesmaids were Mrs. Dennis . (Paula) Porter, sister- in- law of the bride and Mrs. Larry (Sherrie Lynn) Silcox, sister of the bridegroom. Elizabeth Terry was junior bridesmaid and the flower girls were tiny Tricia Terry and Becky Silcox. The attendants wor.? pink and white floor length gowns of empire styling and carried baskets of white daisies and baby breath with yellow satin ribbon streamers. The mothers of the bridal pair wore pink floor-length .1 gowns accented with camelia corsages, . Richard Wilkinson stood as best man and ushering was done by Dennis and Terry Porter, Por-ter, Jerry Frame and Larry Silcox. Presiding at the guest book as Mrs. Jerry (Susan) Frame, sister of the bridegroom. Aunts of the bride, Mrs. ' Keith Abbott, Ab-bott, Mrs. Dean Terry and Mrs. LaMar Terdy cut the cake and poured. The uniue wedding cake of five individual rounds was made by Mrs. Albert Clark and beautifully . decorated with fresh flowers by Mrs. Paul Lunt and Sag.? Lunt. Helping in the kitchen were Mrs. Rulon Woodbury, Mrs. Orville Isom, Mrs. Leslie D. Budbidge, . Mrs. Joseph Felix, Mrs. D. C. Schmutz, Mrs. Frank Jex, Mrs. Lue Benn, Mrs. Ralph Hafen, Mrs. Norman Heaton, Mrs. Elmer Cox, and Mrs. Wil-lard Wil-lard Thompson. The refreshments were served serv-ed by Misses Teri Abbott and Debbie and Linda Terdy, cousins cous-ins of th.2 bride and Jane Little. Helping with the gifts were Mrs. Vivian Terry, Mrs. Dee Porter and Mrs. Grandon Porter. Port-er. Beautiful organ music for the evening was furnished by David Lamb. Prior to the wedding the bride was honored with a personal per-sonal shower by Miss Jane Little and miscellaneous showers given by Mrs. Dennis Den-nis Porter and summer roommates room-mates at Grand Canyon. The young couple have attended at-tended two years at SUSC where the brfde was a Cheerleader, Cheer-leader, member of Circle K T's and past president of the T Birds Ambassadors. The bridegroom bride-groom was affiliated with Delta Phi Kappa fraternity and earned a scholarship to BYU. The newlyweds are making their home in Provo where both will attend BYU. |
