Show David Sargents to Be Honored at Open House On Golden Wedding Anniversary Dec. 28 The family of Pres. David L. and Mildred Sargent are honor-1 ing their parents on the occa-1 sion of their 50th wedding annl-! versary. An open house will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 28 between the hours of 6 and 9 p. m. at the Cedar City LDS Institute of Religion. Re-ligion. Friends are cordially invited to be present. They request no gifts. For the occasion they expect i all of their eight living children and their families to be in attendance. at-tendance. The Sargents were married on Dec. 28, 1915 in the Salt Lake Temple. Following their marriage mar-riage they made their home for three years in Grace, Idaho where Mr. Sargent was principal bf the school. The next three' years were spent in Paris, Idaho j where he served as county agri- j cultural agent. In 1920 the Sargents moved to Cedar City where Mr. Sargent! became affiliated with the College Col-lege of Southern Utah, then the Branch Agricultural College. For 15 years he served as head of the agricultural department, then nerved another 15 years as head of the biological department. j Following his retirement he was given status as a professor emeritus and has continued to teach on a limited basis. The Sargents took time out to serve a mission for the LDS Church In Hawaii where Mr. Sargent Sar-gent taught In the College of Hawaii. He was president of the Cedar Stake for ten years and is curently serving as patriarch of the Cedar Stake. I Mrs. Sargent has been active In church affairs, serving in all of the auxiliary organizations both on a ward and stake level. After raising nine children she returned to college to receive her bachelor's degree from College of Southern Utah and taught in, the Iron County School district' for a number of years. Eight of the nine children of the Sargents are living and will be in attendance for the golden wedding occasion. They include David LeRoy, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Art C. (Beth) Porter, Rexburg, Idaho; Dean, Sandy; Ross Wayne, Yakima, Wash.; Mrs. Ray H. (Carol) Cleave, Mrs. Eldon W. (Luree) Schmutz, and Mrs. Tmo-mas Tmo-mas (Mildred) Cardon, all of Cedar Ce-dar City, and Jack C, of Brig-ham Brig-ham City. Deceased Is Mrs. James G. (El-ma) (El-ma) Parrish. The Sargents also have 44 grandchildren. All of the children have graduated grad-uated from Colege of Southern Utah and five have obtained degrees de-grees from Utah State University Universi-ty in Logan. MR. AND MRS. DAVID L. SARGENT |
