Show It Happened Here This country was beuutlful when the pioneers first came. It was virgin vir-gin territory. The mountains, forests, for-ests, streams and plains were lovely. love-ly. Just as nature always Is, until marred by the hand of man. This year marks 100 years of progress pro-gress In Utah. Yet in many Instances Instanc-es these 100 years of accomplishments accomplish-ments are not evidenced by the appearance of our homes, farms and communities. We are Inviting the peoples of the world to come here so that we may proudly exhibit the results of 100 years of accomplishments accomplish-ments of a purported energetic, well educated and Industrious people. The fruits of our efforts, that we are going to so proudly exhibit consists con-sists of dirty, unkept, unpainted, shabby homes; unsightly, ramshackle ramshack-le outbuildings; old corrals and fallen fal-len down fences; scragglly dead trees; littered and weedy vacant lots; and all the other examples of neglect, neg-lect, disinterest and decay. To further Impress upon our visitors' vis-itors' minds, with our 100 years of progress, it Is possible for them to compare our man-made atrocities with the grandeur and novelty of our natural scenery, unequalled anywhere any-where else in the world, that existed ex-isted here upon our arrival. Yes, IT HAS HAPPENED HERE: We have managed in 100 years to turn a veritable paradise of natural scenic beauty Into a land of waste and deterioration. We have now, the opportunitty to correct these evils that are blighting blight-ing and destroying our state and to develop and maintain plans for permanent Improvement. WILL IT HAPPEN HERE? |
