Show Duane VanAusdal, Educator, Dies I .:; J ' I f V : N I W " ( f PAKOWAN - Duane VanAusdal, nil, Utah Teacher of the Year in 197:1, died Oct. I I, 1978 in a Cedar City hospital of a heart condition. Mr. VanAusdal taught industrial arts and drafting in the Iron County School District. His HO year career included Hi years at I'arowan High School and 14 years at Cedar City High School. He was named Utah Teacher of the Year in 1973 and Utah Vocational Director of the Year in 1974. Mr. VanAusdal earned a masters degree from Utah State University. While active m many sports, he also owned and operated an archery shop at his residence. Mr. VanAusdal was an active member of the LDS Utah to Cornelius J. and Bonnie Larson VanAusdal. He married Mildred Ockey on Aug. 18, 194:1, in the Sail Lake Temple. Mr. VanAusdal is survived by his widow, sons, Richard, Washington; Larry, Parowan; dau. Mrs. Neil (Bonnie) O'Brian, Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. Paul (Karen) Blair, Ogden; five grandchildren; brothers, Jay K., Spring ville; Neal & Bud, both Santaquin; Ted, Dugway and a sister, Mrs. Lamar (Gail) Snyder of Cedar City. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 17, 1978 at 2 p.m. in the Parowan third LDS ward chapel. Interment was in the Parowan City Cemetery under the direction of the t Spislbury & Graff Mortuary.
