Show Woman Dies of Gun Shot Wound Mrs. Ethel Mitchell, about 38, died early Saturday morning at her home in Lund as a result of a bullet bul-let wound, believed to have been self-inflicted. The body was discovered dis-covered by a neighbor, who had been doing some shopping for Mra. Mitchell, when she returned from the store. A 22 rifle was still clutched clutch-ed ,in the dead woman's hand when she was found. Medical aid was summoned from Cedar City, but death had occurred before the doctor doc-tor arrived. Officials were notified of the tragedy trag-edy and Deputy Sheriff Claude Macfarlane and County Attorney R. J. Shay investigated. An Inquest was also conducted by Precinct Justice Jus-tice of the Peace Alex H. Rollo, with S. H. Johnson, Doll Holyoak and Neal Magleby members of the coroner's cor-oner's Jury. A verdict of suicide was returned by the Jury. An examination of the body showed show-ed that the bullet had entered an ear and was lodged In the scalp, death apparently being instantaneous. instantane-ous. Evidence brought out in the inquest in-quest Indicated that Mrs. Mitchell, who had come to Lund only a short time previously with her husband who was employed by the American Ameri-can Telephone and Telegraph Co., had been despondent for several weeks. The husband of the dead woman was at work when the tragedy trag-edy occurred. |
