Show Funeral Services Held For Southern Utah Pioneer Cattleman Walter Murle 86 pioneer cattle cattleman cattleman cattleman man of southern Utah died Thursday Thursday Thursday Thurs Thurs- day night of ailments aliments incident to tu age following years ears of poor health Funeral Mineral services were conducted inthe Inthe in the he First Ward chapel Sunday afternoon afternoon afternoon after- after noon with Bishop Frank Armstrong of Enoch presiding Interment was made In the Cedar City cemetery Mr Murle was born in Cedar City on September 23 1853 a son of David and Mary Muir Murle Music who arrived In Cedar City shortly after the original party of settlers In n 1851 He was the third white child chUd born here and the second white boy I lie He engaged In the cattle business and farming practically his life Ufe and became one of the most promInent prominent prom prom- cattle men of the section He was for many eyan manager of the Duncan cattle herds which ranged on the desert during the early years of this community y and numbered In the thousands He later became manager of the Cedar City Cooperative Cooperative Cooperative Co Co- Co- Co operative store association lie He was credited with solving a shortage of salt among the early settlers by discovering a salty spring In what has since been known as Salt Creek canyon leading north from Coal Creek canyon and installing In Installing Installing in- in stalling vats In which to distill the salt He lie married Kathryn Stewart of Cedar City on February 13 1879 She died In 1884 and several years yean later he married her sister Adella Adelia who survives In addition to his widow who resides In Salt Lake City he IsI is survived by three sons William O O. David and Bernard Dernard Murle Music of cedar City and a daughter Mrs Mona Bird of Salem Oregon A sister Mrs Ellen Chaffin of Idaho Falls Palls and five half halt brothers and sisters George W. W Joseph A A. and James JamesA A A. Hunter Mrs Rose H H.
