Show Impressive Services Held for Prominent Cedar Resident Funeral services services for for John Oran Gran- vile Pace 67 who died Saturday from injuries received In an automobile automobile automobile auto auto- mobile accident were held in the Third Ward Chapel Monday afternoon afternoon afternoon after after- noon with a large crowd of friends and relatives from all aU parts of southern Utah assembled to pay their last respects for the deceased Mr Pace was injured Thursday evening when the car he was drivIng driving ing crashed headon with one driven by Mrs John Brown of Hamiltons Hamilton's Fort Mr Pace suffered a severely crushed chest hest Injuring his heart and lungs and also suffered a broken of the neck Mrs Brown Is suffering from Q a broken leg a 1 severe scalp laceration lacer lacer- atlon and body bruises Mrs Cora O. O McBride Pace who was riding with her husband is in the hospital hospital hos hos- pital yet having been in a serious condition from a severe scalp laceration la la- la Concussion concussion of the brain a broken rib and many cuts and bruises She Is improving rapidly at present The accident happened about two ho miles s south of Cedar City where here the highway had just lust been sprinkled with a covering of sand and gravel where whre new oil had been applied to the surface of the road It Is reported that the dust from this resulted in both drivers failing falling to see the other approaching and anda a head on crash resulted Mr Pace who for many years had been extremely active in the civic and industrial development of Cedar city at the time of his death was president of the Cedar Livestock Association his third term in that position and a member member member mem mem- ber of the Chamber of Commerce Trust Fund committee He was a Q successful livestock grower and was instrumental in the founding of the Southern Utah Livestock Cooperative Association He lie was also one of the founders of the Iron Savings Bank acting act act- tag ing as its first vice-president vice and when that bank merged with the tho Bank of Southern Souther Utah he remained remain remain- ed as vice-president vice a position he held for many years Mr Pace served two terms on the Cedar City council was active as a member of the Cedar City Chamber of Commerce and was a 1 charter member and past president of the Cedar City Rotary Club He also served one term as a representative representative representative to the state legislature from Iron County He Ha was born in New Harmony on May 10 1870 a son of Wilson and Maria Pace Pacer He attended school In St. St George and later attended the Branch Dranch Normal school here On September 18 1894 he marled married married mar mar- ried led Ellen Thornton In the St. St George L L. D. D S B. B temple lie He fulfilled fulfill fulfill- ed an L L. D. D 8 Sr mission to the southern states in 1897 and 1898 In 1903 and 1904 he resided in Lehi Lehl where he operated a store moving here early in 1905 where here he entered the sheep business His lIis first wife died in 1923 In May 1925 he married Mrs Cora Oora G. G McBride then head of the home economics department of the B. B A A. 0 O. Besides his widow surviving are five sons and daughters LeGrand T T. John A.
