One chain store Safeway inaugurated annua! spring and fall lamb campaigns ia cooperation with the Delta Lamb Feeders' Association and the Utah Woolgrowers Association. Vk4v As a result, Safeway's lamb sales increased 400 per cent and producers at the same time realized greater returns. I appreciated this confidence, and I I have tried to justify it, by conducting; my office in accordance with what I considered to be the best interest in-terest of all of the people of Iron County. A number of prosecutions were conducted successfully, success-fully, including especially the case against Donald Lawton Condit, in which, for the first time in Iron H County's history, a conviction of first degree murder was obtained. Tax sales have engaged a considerable portion of my official attention, and I have recently proposed to the County Commissioners a plan by which I hope, if continued con-tinued in office, to remedy an injustice in taxation. Through Supreme Court decisions, some of our tax sales are illegal. At the same time by reason of the tux sale, the property stands in the name of the county and cannot be assessed. This is unjust and unfair to those who pay taxes, as I view it, and if continued in I of f ice I intend to employ7 every legal means to correct this unwholesome condition, and restore to the tax rolls, property previously escaping taxation. j All law enforcement officers, regardless of political affiliation will assure you of my cooperation with them j during my term of office. My civic and public record is well known. Having served 18 months with the armed arm-ed forces in the World War, serving a3 Navy Day chairman, and chairman of the Advisory Committee under the Selective Service Act, I believe I can continue j to meet successfully the national defense problems (which will arise. If continued in office I will maintain the cooperative policy of the past two years. Reuben J. Shay, : Candidate for County Attorney at the Primary Election on 8 Tuesday, September 1st., 1942.
