" i ' :w price uot too high; I hoofed it west, I hoofed it east, endeavoring to sell tho beast, but no one wished to buy. Day after day I toiled along, and bored men with tho same old song, "I have a calf for sale; I askclght bones and fifty cents, for this unequalled une-qualled critter, gents who will dig up the kale?" Then said a friend, "Oh, rest your feet, and quit your wearing out tho street, and howling by the year; spend fifty cents and advertise ad-vertise your Bawed-off cow of pocket size, and 'buyers will appear." I followed fol-lowed up the sane advice, and put my jaded feet on ice'; and when the ad. appeared, ten customers came to my gate; one bought the calf and paid tho freight, the others bucked and reared. And thus, bv printing little ads, the wise man gathers in the scads, and rcHts his aching corns; a little ad. will make more poise than fifty-seven buBy boys, all tooting on their horns. Walt Mason, in Dcscrct News. PROSPECTS seem exceptionally fuvorablc for the B. A. C. track team "capturing the state high school meet this year. It will bo remembered that wo took a strong second last year, and with the most of tho old men still on the tcum this year and considerable good new material, we should be a more formidable contestant this ycur than lust. The way the boys "cleaned" the Dixie Academy team here a few days since, and wiped the earth with the Kanab team seems to give proof that they will give u good account of themselves when they come up to tho state event. Today they aro contesting contest-ing with the Dixio again, but there is scarcely a doubt as to the outcome of the game. So far as we have been able to learn, Murdock, which has taken first in the state meet for a number of years, is not exceptionally strong this year, which also tends to improve our chances for success.
