Show OBITUARY. Eva Sun. "The old must die, the young may," came to the teachers and students of SL Mary's with added force when, on Monday afternoon, the announcement was made that Miss Eva Sun had passed away, peacefully,- after' a short illness of four days, of pneumonia, superinduced su-perinduced by heart failure. Seemingly Seeming-ly possessed of rugged health, she was anything but a healthy girl. Pure and radiant as ihe meridian sun, with not a shadow of a blot upon her youn. soul to mar the lustre of her innncenct and childlike simplicity, death in her case was robbed of its sting. Though gloom-girt to those in whose hearts her precious memory is forever enshrined, she passed through the golden gates of rest, clasped ih the eucharlclic embrace of Him whose smile is hers forever. To her beloved parents, brother and sister, whose Christian resignation and fortitude have been tested by so lofty a . sacrifice, is tendered sincere condolence con-dolence in their hour-of grief. Thursday morning the precious remains re-mains were conveyed to the convent chapel, where, at 9 a. m., a requiem high mass was celebrated by Very Rev. D. J. Kiely, V. G., who also delivered a touching sermon. His discourse was marked, by fervor and heartfelt sympathy sym-pathy for the afflicted father and mother brother and sister, whose grief must have been assuaged by the consoling words o hope, which were his chosen text: "The girl is not dead, she sleepeth." With a forecefulness that brought home to the hearts of his and tors the consoling truth that death simply marks the beginning of that life eternal for which God has destined us, the reverend speaker held the rapt attention of all present. At the close of the sermon, vested, in surplice and stole, the reverend celebrant proceeded to give the last absolution over the re-mains, re-mains, which lay in state all day Thursday within the sacred precincts of the sanctuary, and overshadowed by the banner of the Children of Mary, whose badge and medal, and whose rosary twined around her fingers, now j cold in death, testified to her fealty to her, under whose standard she was privileged to be enrolled. At half-past 4 o'clock the community and pupils again assembled In the chapel for the solemn funeral rites, which were also conducted by Father K'.ely. After the last sad farewell of her bereaved family, fam-ily, the cofiin was closed, and the mourful cortege .was formed. . escorting escort-ing all that was mortal of dear Eva to her last silent resting place on Mount Calvary. Of her we may truly say: "She never made a brow look dark, Nor caused a tear but when she died." May her precious soul enjoy light, rest and peace eternal! R. I. P. |
