East Golden Gate is still down but is not so The to Mining S ock Review. The week on the Salt Lake Stock Exchange has been one of activity, the volume of business non-liste- board however, has failed record the bulk of the business, as curb transactions have been numerous and the private buys of brokers with outside orders to fill, have been exceedingly heavy. The silver stocks have shown remarkable recuperative powers, and are decidedly more brisk than just prior to election, but this is undoubtedly due to the advance in lead, which, small though it is, is still sufficient to be the medium for resumption of shipments in many mines. Anchor advanced 15 cents in the bid during the week, showing a desire to get the stock, but it is still held firmly 'out of reach. For unexplained reason Ajax has declined, and the present indications are that it is in danger of a bear movement. At the mines cjnditions continue to improve, and there is no question but that it will become a greater producer than when it established its million dollar dividend record under the name of the Copperopolis. Alliance is regularly passed on the board without quotations and Annie is enjoying the same seclusion. Bullion-Hec- k has recorded a heavy advance, and is held at 0.75, with bids at $G.20 to $0.40. The recent discovery on the 900 level is holding out in good shape, and is giving every promise of permancy in spite of the predictions of the geologist who predicted that its adjacency to the great fault would preclude the possibility of permancy. The stock will receive its November dividend on the 20tli. has awakened from the lethargy of the past two months, and the monot-of the standing quotations has been by a strong advance. Bids ran up toKGii. but the stock cannot be had under $80. Just what is the cause of the propulsion does appear, as the regularity with which the monthly dividends of $1. per share has not been disturbed. Another of these was paid on the 15th. Centennial-Eurek- a W fn-pjupt- ed has also gone up the week and advance of 80 cents induring the bid is recorded, however, is held easy. Daly-We- st ia if n,c at last weeks figures but is in much prof r demand. There is some promise of a diVvi on this stock before the close of the vptv.1 arj but nothing confirming the hope has yet nTPaJy recklessly offered. The new management is continuing the sinking of the drill hole and a total depth of 1010 feet has been attained. Recently water was encountered in the strata and this is proving to be of great assistance to the work of the drill. A depth of 1300 feet from the surface is the point at which the vein is expected to be found, and at the present rate of progress that depth should be attained in the next two weeks. Four Aces did considerable business at 17 cents, and appears to be in good demand. Galena is also an active stock and is stronger, while Geyser remained at about the previous weeks figures and sold under a dollar. Horn Silver received a bid for the first time in months, and under the inducement the stock came down to $1.80 but stuck there. Mercur was in prime demand and was wanted at $0.20. The regular monthly dividend of 121 cents will be paid on the 20th. Mammoth was a heavy sufferer and sold down to $1,421. There is nothing wrong with the mine however, but the heavy improvements under way, by which the main shaft is to go down to a depth of 3000 feet, will be almost certain to interrupt the dividends. The board meets on Friday and the question of the December dividend will then be passed upon. Ontario is enjoying the general advance, and is in stronger demand at a better price. Silver King is wanted at $15. but no stock is in sight. There is little doubt now but that the dividends on this stock will be continous. Sunshine is in the dumps and sold as low as $1.15 during the week, with $1.05 as the best bid at the close. stocks South Swansea made Of the the most material advance and was wanted at $1.20. The floating stock appears to have been all gathered in, and there is little probability of its ever being quoted at lower figures. Lucky Bill of Park City is a favorite and did business. The development of the new discovery at the property is opening up a wonderful body as-of good shipping ore, and there is almost an surance that the period of assessments has been stock putin an passed.
