The Jupiter, Bird and Crown Point mines near Pine Grove in Elsinore county have been sold by Oliver Sloan to Stephen Shea and Albert Benton. In the Bird there is a good body of free milling gold ore that averages 25 to the ton, and Mr. Sloan had shipped an engine mill to the mine before the deal and wus closed. B. Levan, for 20,000. The purchaser, whose knowledge of Idaho mines gives the transaction a significance that ordinarily would not attach to it, will put a good force of men to work on the group at once, and it is stated that he will erect mill as soon as the weather opens in a the spring. The energy with which assessment work is being prosecuted on properties in the Willow Creek district, and the many favorable showin ings that have resulted, is putting the camp bea most flourishing cohdition, and capital is ing attracted to the rich mines. The Checkmate has suspended drifting on its lower level on account of water, but a hoist and pumping plant is to be put in and work will be resumed. The property is producing some very high grade ore. Two carloads of high grade ore have been shipped from the Middleman, and were taken out at a depth of only 35 feet where there is a solid vein of ore 2 feet wide. The Emmett mine, owned by Blain & Dempsey, has recently yielded over 12,000 from a vein 32 inches wide. There is now a ledge at a depth of 35 feet, and the . owners are sacking rich ore for a shipment. A party of Baker City capitalists have organized themselves into a company to work a large area of reputed rich placer ground near Silver 0 City in Owyhee county. LA PLATA DISTRICT. M. C. nt self-sustaini-ng dollars. Col. E. H. Dewey 20-sta- e, st Harrington, night foreman at the Daly West mine, left this week for LaPlata, the lead and copper district north of Ogden. Mr. Harrington owns a valuable group of claims in the district, which he is seeking to have patented. The recent discovery of copper near his ground has created great interest in the district and many claims have been jumped and cross locations filed. Even old established claims that have been worked constantly since the camp was discovered, of which the group owned by Mr. Harrington is one, are not exempt from the attacks of these vandals. Mikes mission is to interview would be claimants. Park Record. Park City. A new streak of. ore in the Vallejo which is proving a wonder in the district, assayed 102 in gold and 14 per cent, copper to the ton. The recent developments in this property indicates the presence of a strong copper belt carrying high values in gold and has given a stimulus to prospecting in the vicinity. It is also of great importance to Park City, as her mines have heretofore been classed as silver mines, and the prosperity of the camp depended almost entirely on the price of silver. Now that gold and copper are being taken out in big quantities the camp will be on a more stable basis. The Park Record says the indication are that Park Citys list of dividend payers will soon be increased by the addition of the Daly-Weand the Vallejo. Both are in a most promising condition. Unless all signs fail there is going to be considerable stir on the hill north of town within the next few months. Claims are being patented and considerable development is being performed. The writer was informed this week that Thomas Kearns had purchased an interest in one of the groups located on that hill, which, if true, would lend force to claim that the Woodside-Silve- r King vein crosses to that section of the district, and will be the means of st very much disappointed over the defeat of W. The Indiana above the Old Jordan made its inital shipment It is being worked by a Mr. Eastman, and he has a nice body of galena ore developed. From reliable authority it is learned that it is the intention of the English syndicate who have secured control of the Winnamuck mine to sink the present incline 200 feet deeper and to sink the Dixon shaft on the opposite side of canyon to a depth of 500 feet and then to connect these workings, thereby developing a large amount of new ground. As this work will take all winter the mill will not be started this year, but as the mill has proven a success its capacity will be greatly increased in the spring. The North Last Chance is working about twenty men with Superintendent J. W. Campbell in charge. The mill lately fitted up for concentrating the ore from this mine is doing excellent work. The plant consists of a engine, a Chilian mill and six fine vanners, concentrating about twelve tons into one. The concentrates being well up in value in gold, silver and lead. It is the intention of the Superintendent to open up the mine so ss to do away with the hauling by team of the ore from the mine to the mill. To do this, con nections are now being made, and the mill will probobly be closed down until such time as this work is completed. The Dalton & Lark has made a shipme nt of ten car loads of lead carbonate, whether it is the intention to resume regular shipments or not it is impossible to learn.
