Gen. Thomas P. Stafford, commander of the Air Force Flight Test Center, Edwards AFB, Calif., recently received the 1975 Gen. Thomas D. White U.S. Air Force Space Trophy at the National Geographic Society headquarters in Washington, D.C. The trophy is presented annually to an Air Force member, civil service employe, or organization for the most outstanding contribution to the nation's progress in aerospace during the preceding calendar year. Gen. David C. Jones, Air Force Chief of Staff, made the presentation. The School of Applied Aerospace Sciences has reduced its electronics fundamentals course from 15 to 6 weeks in a move estimated to save the Air Force millions of dollars annually in support and training costs. Called "Hasty Spark," the Air Training Command program is expected to reduce the average daily number of students at Keesler by about 800 and could free almost 1,600 manpower slots annually for use by major air commands. Follow-otraining in specific career areas will supplement the basic "Hasty Spark" instruction.
