The award is named in honor of the late Col. James S. Cogswell, first chief of a centralized office of industrial security in the Defense Supply Captain Cockroft told the assemblage of 350 Boeing employees, Air Force personnel, and guests that the Boeing Company, Utah Area, was one of 34 contractors selected to receive the award from 13,500 industrial firms performing on classified contracts for the Department of Defense. The Boeing employees were commended for their performance, and security supervisor, R. D. Kier, received recognition for his personal efforts, all of which has resulted in an ex Agency.
