F-1- 01 1 Still Opportunity For GI Insurance The opportunity for veterans to take out GI insurance policies' is not entirely past, the Veterans Administration announced this week in Washington, D. C. Confusion arose when the law permitting issuance of new GI policies was interpreted by some to mean ONLY service-disable- d veterans of the Korean War. To clarify the situation the VA said the law permits it to issue a special type of GI insurance to service-disable- d veteran dis- charged under other than dishonorable conditions on or after April 25, 1951. This could include Korea veterans, of course, but also peacetime vets. Approximately 600 of them and other types aircraft will be repaired or modified this year at Hill. Scores of teams from the Ogden AMA also will be sent to all parts of the free world this year to do similar work on aircraft based overseas. Some 500,000 different items, valued at more than $850 million, are stocked in warehouses and storage areas at Hill AFB for use at Hill AFB and Air Force bases in the U. S. and overseas. Total assets of Hill AFB, including its subordinate Wendover Air Force Auxiliary Field now stand at more than $1 billion. Included in the inventory of base assets are more than 7,100 acres of land, buildings and structures, 70 miles of railroads, 89 miles of roads, 31,000 feet of runways, 84 warehouses, and seven hangars. In addition, the Wendover complex consists of over one million acres and is used as a testing ground for missile components and aircraft, rocketry, gunnery and bombing exercises, and ammunition testing and training programs.
