Show HILL TOP TIMES Page 6 April Become Members of Hill AFB "Hall Gallon" Club 9, l J Wil Reece S. Robinson Assumes Duties As Deputy Comptroller at Hill AFB r Mr. Reece S. Robinson, a man who has spent years trying to be assigned to Hill Air Force Base, has recently been named to the top civilian spot in the office of the comptroller. He was designated Deputy Comptroller, a position that was established several years ago but never filled. A veteran of 12 years of service at Hq. Air Materiel Command, Mr. Robinson has been trying most of that time to transfer to Hill AFB to be near home. Before coming to Hill, he was chief of Industrial Manpower at the AMC Headquar- ters. Former resident of Salt Lake City, Mr. Robinson graduated from the University of Utah in 1932 receiving a degree in economics and accounting and awarded a Master's Degree in labor and statistics in ' ' - yv - J. Seventeen persons from Hill Air Force Base line up to receive letters of commendation for in the American Red Cross blood program. They were so honored for standing participation n or more of blood since 1952. Colonel L. H. Quinn. half-gallo- Qualified Pilots May Apply for Officer Candidate School Qualified airmen in the communications-electronics field may now apply for officer candidate school, according to Captain A. S. Willis, chief of military personnel division. At the present time an acute shortage of qualified communications-electronics officers is causing considerable difficulty throughout the Air Force, Captain Willis reported. An intensified campaign is now underway to encourage qualified airmen to apply for officer candidate school under provisions of AFB 35-- 7 dated 1 April 1953 and dated 15 October change 1953. Further information may be obtained by contacting the military personnel division. 35-7- A Civilian Baseball Players to Meet Chaplain Burke Promoted To Rank of Major Chaplain Leroy D. Burke, Catholic Chaplain at Hill Air Force Base, has been promoted from Captain to Major it was announced today. Father Burke has been chaplain for Catholic personnel at Hill AFB since June 1953 when he reported from the Far East. Overseas he served as chaplain at Iwo Jima Japan and Korea. Before joining: the Army Air Corps in 1942, he was parish priest at St. Alphonsus Parish, Grand Rapids, Michigan and did missionary work throughout the Midwest He attended Saint Joseph's Preparatory College, Kirkwood, Mo. graduating in 1933. Chaplain Burke later attended Mount St. Clements College, De Soto, Mo. in 1934 and out- Am the 1938. Mr. Robinson holds the honor of being the first civilian in the Air Force to attend the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, Ft. Leslie NcNair, Washington, D.
