Helping veterans, widows and orphans get their affairs straightened out is just one of the projects carried on by Ross and members of the VFW. They also sponsor marble tournaments, youth building programs, and conduct military funerals. One of the projects originated by the Utah VFW's has been adopted by the national organization as a yearly activity, according to Ross. That is the "Corporal's Kriss Kringle", a project to gather up worn-ou- t toys and repair them for distribution to needy children at Christmas time. v Ross urges all veterans to join one of the veteran's organizations. Baker, William Hansen as emcee the party was planned by: Sam Larson, Mrs. Mavis Jones, Pfc. Bill Chilburis, and a representative from each unit. Mrs. Ida Hall was general chairman of the affair. The ceremony was officiated by Reverend Brockman. After July 1st the couple will be at home at 3 Victory Road, Washington Terrace. One job was resigned on June 15 by Joanne Walker of reports and analysis unit, supply, to take Annette on a much more responsible one housewife and effective June 19. Joanne married Pfc. Marvin B. Serr and bride they'll be leaving the West to make their home in Savannah, Georgia, where Marvin is presently stationed. . . CRUISING ALONG Bill Market, base photographer and a very nice guy besides, claims his vacation was a "busman's holiday" from May 20 to June 5, when he toured Monument Valley, Navajo Reservation, the South Rim of Grand Canyon, Zion National Park, Hoover Dam and Las Vegas, which gave him ideas and opportunities for 100 color pictures. Joe Hartman, line foreman, engine repair, chose' southern Utah, Grand Canyon and Colorado for his vacation this year. Janet Francisco, secretary of supply spent two weeks fishing, horseback riding and loafing at Plotoro, Colorado. She says she didn't catch a fish, but saw a lot of suckers. Theola Fay, mail file and record unit, supply is back after having spent 3 weeks in Cozad, Nebraska visiting her mother and daughter, Barbara, who participated in graduating exercises from Cozad High. Elwood L. Murray, chief storage branch, warehouse section vacationed in Elko, Nevada with his wife, Floss. Marge Solomon, stenographer same section decided there was no place like home especially her new home which she took time off to admire. A week of California sunshine helped to make Marjorie Oda happier than ever. Another California vacationeer was Leah Lindsay, visiting her sister there. Mrs. Dorothy Levindofske and husband think the U.S.A. is a big place. They covered 6500 miles of it and didn't see only part of most of the states and into Canada. Mrs. Betty Owens of the typist pool, and husband have returned after 3 weeks visiting Mr. Owen's folks in Kentucky. Bob Halfacre, unit C vacationed in Memphis, Tennessee. Gordon Milne will have been gone a month come 30 June two weeks vacationing and two weeks on military leave, Mrs. Betty Morris, steno, stock control and husband from statistical control vacationed in the Pacific Northwest. John A. Lewis will vacation in his hometown in Wisconsin. Rapid City, S. D. was the vacation spot for Mrs. Ethelyn Newstrom, unit 5.
