The alertness of Anthony E. Formisano, a civilian guard on graveyard shift, prevented a serious fire in Hanger No. 3 early Sunday morning, March 21, 1948. According to a report from Fire Chief Paul Ronnfeldt, guard Formisano detected a slight odor of burning cloth when he first went on shift at midnight. In a building as large as the repair hangars, Formisano found it very difficult to trace the odor to its source, and it was not until about 0300 that he located a pile of smouldering rags on the east balcony. As he hastened to turn in the fire alarm, he ran into Guard Otis R. Minter who was on his way to check up on the new patrolman to see if he was domg "okay." For misano told Minter he had found a fire on the balcony and then proceeded to turn in the alarm. Minter extinguished the smoul dering rags before the fire depart ment reached the scene. Ronnfeldt commended the guards highly- for their alertness and quick WITHOUT CHARGE 1 of THE Ml H ICO It OF SUCCESS!! nnel Dos your business de-pn- d on your appearance?
