Wilbert P. Blackburn, chief of the records branch in civilian personnel. This is the branch in which draft deferments for civilian employes on the field are handled. According to this memorandum, employes less than 26 .years of age who are acceptable for general grantmilitary service will not be in the ed deferments. Employes 9 age group, unless known to be disqualified for general military service, will receive a deferment only when the following conditions exist: 1. No replacement is available. 2. His continued services are necessary to the effective operation of the station by which employed. 3. The project upon which he is engaged or the station by which he is employed, is included in a critical activity as designated by the war manpower commission. 4. In personnel and base services division, 486 of the 564 employes have contributed establishing 86.5 per cent participation amounting to $1,801.52. Maintenance division is only cred ited with 56.2 per cent participation with 2507 employes contribute ing out of 4457 engaged in that division, making a total of $8,681. Only 68.8 per cent or 5844 of the 8494 employes have contributed to the drive to date bringing the civilian total to $21,039.29. As for military personnel. 273 officers stationed here have contributed $1,982.30 with 509 enlisted men raising this figure $227.41 bringing the over-a- ll total to $23,249; Lt. Joe Z.
