T. Mer rier, president Southern Pacafic company. Volunteers from the 4135th base unit and medical detachment were on the job throughout the day of the accident removing dead and injured from the wreckage of Utah's worst train disaster. The statement of the Southern Pacific president follows: "We wish to express our pro found gratitude to all who assisted us in the rescue and care of those injured in the recent train acci dent on our lines near Ogden, and to the many other persons and organizations who so generously offered to help. "As soon as more detailed in formation is available, we intend insofar as possible, to express in dividual thanks for the assistance rendered, but it may be some time before we are able to do so. "In the meantime we take this means' to convey our sincere appreciation to all concerned, includ- ng private citizens and public offi cials of Ogden, Salt Lake City and vicinity, military and civilian passengers on the train, representa tives of the federal government, the American Red Cross, the U. S. army-Nint- h service command army forces. Hill Field, and the U. S. naval district.
