Show HILLTOP TIMES TIMES 5 July 8, 2010 Di, istons, paint obs and trophies BY BILL ORNDORFF 309th Maintenance Wing \ A 1961 Chevy Apache pickup truck won the General's Trophy for 'best of show' honors when the 309th Maintenance Wing held its annual Car Show and Commander's Call June 30. The Chianti red pickup, the result of an eight-year restoration project by Duane Blue, also won first place in the truck category. The show was held in Centennial Park under partly cloudy skies and drew more than 2,000 onlookers. Activities included prize drawings for items donated by local merchants, a catered barbecue lunch and a pre-holiday safety briefing. Sue Dryden, 309 Maintenance Wing vice director, also lauded the crowd for their participation and achievements during the recent Logistics Compliance Assessment Program evaluation. This was the largest 309th MXW car show in its four-year history, with 87 vehicles entered. Entries ranged in age from a 1923 Ford Roadster to a 2010 Dodge Megacab pickup, and also included nine Camaros, seven Corvettes, four Mustangs and a 1962 Ford Super Duty fire engine.
