Show Page 0 March HILL TOP TIMES Hill AFB Girl Scouts Given High Awards Clearfield Church Community was the scene of a recent Court of Awards for Girl Scouts belonging to Troop 82 at Hill AFB, according to Mrs. Leo Chavarie, scout leader. Receiving curved bars, highest award for Girl Scouts, were Mary and Susanne Chavarie. Promoted scouts were Carol to first-clas- s Ann Chavarie, Nancy Whitt, Carolyn Bittenbender, Donna Toth, Mary Becker, Susan Bowry, and Nancy Carson. Scouting badges for the young ladies will be presented at a forthcoming achievement banquet. The affair is set for mid-Apr- il at Hill AFB. The scout troop was organized at Hill in 1954 to take care of scouting needs of daughters of base military personnel. The troop is sponsored by Officers' Wives' Club. 9, i95 Two Men from 4677th REF Given Military Honors for February Two men assigned to the 4677th Radar Evaluation Flight at Hill AFB have been named as the base's outstanding officer and airman for the month of February. MSgt. Leon L. Dunn and Alc Howard R. He was awarded temporary custody of two plaques one for airmen, the other for NCO s. Each month the plaques will be displayed by squadrons whose air man or NCO has been selected for base honors. Each board contains 12 spaces on which the individual's name,- - squadron and month of award .will be entered. At the end of the year the plaques will be displayed permanently in headquarters building. Sgt. Dunn, whose name now appears on the NCO board, is a flight chief with the radar squadron. He May, 1955. He and his wife Rosemary reside at 527 Dailey Ave., Layton, with their two children : Kenneth, and Patricia, 14 months. Airman Morton, judged Hill AFB's outstanding airman, is a one . on radar operator-mechani- c He enlisted of the 4677th's in the Air Force at Los Angeles in January, 1953 and came to Hill in April, 1954. He is married to the former Lois Wise of Layton. Both the sarg and the airman will be feted by the Ogden Chamber of Commerce to free entertainment. Hammon was presented a Sustained Superior Performance Award" by Colonel Jerome W. Jackson, Director of Personnel A check for $100, less deductions, accompanied the award. This amount is set by regulations and rate based upon the award-winneof pay, stated Ray S. Odd, executive secretary, Incentive Awards Committee. Mrs. Hammon received the award because of outstanding performance in the Incentive Award Program. "Her ability to compose and prepare- correspondence, especially reject letters, is very commendable," Mr. Odd said.
