Mr. Rice, who resides at Ogden, has been employed at Hill AFB since 1945 and was a crew chief in the base fire department. He got his first taste of the life of a fireman when he joined the Billings, Montana Volunteer fire department in 1915. IJe later joined the regular department in iyx( and retired from Billings in 1942. A veteran of World War I, he saw action in two major battles in France and Belgium. Hillfielder Elected Ogden VFW Commander Ralph A. Mastin, employee of engine build-u- p power section, was recently installed as the new com- mander of the Veteran of Foreign Wars, Cpl. Fred J. Grant Post 1481, Ogden. An employee of Hill AFB since last July, Mastin formerly worked at the Arsenal. He resides at 3575 Grant Avenue, Ogden. lhe new commander savs the VFW organization is now making y plans lor a Memorial Day to be held at the Place of Remembrance in Ogden. Another big project that he hopes to get underway this year is the construc tion of the VFW home east of John Affleck Park. Another feature of the April luncheon was the awarding of trophies for the season to teams and members of the Officers' Wives' the Bowling league. Mrs. Harry J.
