Lt. Don E. Jones Local Officer Wins Second Place in AMC Short Story. Contest First Lt. Don E. Jones, military training officer at Hill Air Force Base, won second place in the Air Materiel Command's second annual short story contest, according to word received from Dayton, Ohio. First place winner was AlC Robert E. Urie of Kelly AFB, Texas. Additional winners were Major Francis N. Thompson, director of supply and services, AMC headquarters, third; and Sqd. Ldr. Ernest D. Smith, Royal Air Force liaison office, Wright - Patterson AFB. Lt. Jones' manuscript, along with the other three winners, will now advance to Air Force-wid- e competition slated for judging in Washington, D. C. later this summer. There they will vie for a $200 cash award and possible publication in a national magazine. , Top command writers were chosen from 22 finalists representing AMC bases throughout the n country. Judges were journalists. Lt. Jones was awarded a cash prize of $25 for his accomplishment. A native of Ogden, Lt. Jones attended Utah State Agricultural college where he received his bachelor of science degree in psychology. He recently received his master of arts degree in clinical psychology from the University of Houston through the Air Force's "Operation Bootstrap."
