The company contracted to build the units for the Air Force. Brief remarks by Mr. Kahn welcomed new tenants to Wherry Housing. Speaking on behalf of the Air Force was Colonel H. J. Kieling, base commander, OOAMA commanding general, Brig. General M. E. Tillery, was in attendance at the ceremonies, as well as members of the Ogden chamber of commerce, Mayor Vird Cook of Layton, and other local officials. Built at a cost of almost three million dollars, initial construction was started on the project in Auunits have gust 1952. Thirty-on- e been released for occupancy this week and it is anticipated that the entire 350 living units will be complete within the next thirty days. When completed the project will include 250 two and three bedroom units for airmen which will rent at $06.99 and $76.99 per month, according to C. F. Brothersen, housing manager. One hundred officers units, with two and three bedrooms, will rent for $86.49, $99.99, and $110.04. Garages may be had for $5 extra. Included in the rent will be such utilities as water, sewage, garbage, maintenance of grounds and snow removal. Electricity and gas is to be paid by the person renting the unit, Brothersen said. The attractive two-stounits each contain a gas range and electric refrigerator, but are otherwise unfurnished. Most of the apartments feature a large living room, kitchen and dinette downstairs, with bath and bedrooms upstairs. Large windows, modern decorating and attractive floors make the units very desirable, Brotherson said. Applications are now being taken from military personnel who desire to rent one of the units. Interested personnel should contact Brother-se- n at the officers club, building and obtain an application blank. Blanks may also be. secured at squadron orderly rooms, he said.
